Aquatint

Aquatint — “water colour” — has a good name. Of all engraving techniques it is the most like painting: it helps you to read the image, it brings out relief and volume, and doesn't restrain your freedom of movement. It creates images that are more or less defined, more or less intense, more or less coloured... it is fickle, transient and free.
